Dawn Is Coming – Part 7 Sermon – Like Your Life Depends On It

Service Type:

We are in the Book of 1 Peter 4 today. And a message, starting in v 7, that we call, “Like Your Life Depends On It.”

Verse 7, the end of all things is near. Therefore, be clear-minded and self-controlled, so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength that God provides, so that in all things, God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever, amen.

Then he says in Verse 12, dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you, but rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed. I remember taking my hunters safety course. It is a very important part of learning hunting safety and at the center of that is gun safety. Handle every gun as if it is loaded and the safety is off. Treat it with the utmost respect because your life may depend on how you handle the gun. Like your life depends on it. That's what we say to someone who's swimming across the river. Swim, Johnny, swim like your life depends on it. Someone, hold on like your life depends on it. That's what Peter's going to tell us in this part of the text that we're in. He's going to give us four things that will really cause life to overflow. And that's the idea.
