Connect by Serving

Pleasant View has many different ministries within the Church that you could become apart of. Consider connecting in the Church by serving on a ministry. See below for a listing of ministries within Pleasant View.

Meet Greet and Seat

Ministry Description:

Purpose: The purpose of this ministry is to make everyone attending Pleasant View feel welcome, accepted and comfortable. This applies to first time visitors and to those who are regular attendee’s.
Our goal is to make a very positive first impression on each person whom we come in contact with.

How Volunteers can help (what they would be doing, time commitment, schedule etc.)

Volunteers will:
Have an outgoing friendly personality and make a good first impression
Greet people at the door
Hand out bulletins
Seat people as needed
Help take the offering
Make everyone feel welcome
Commit to serving during both services on Sunday morning for a month…3 times per year. –There are substitutes available for Sundays that you have other commitments.
Schedules are created for the whole year so you can plan accordingly

Visitation Ministry

Ministry Description:

The focus of the Visitation Ministry is to take the church out from within its building walls to the membership’s homes and daily lives. To be a bridge between the church and its membership where every day their feet hit the road’s struggles and joys that surrounds them within this world. It is within the Visitation Ministry’s focus to try to connect the church’s responsible and role to its membership in areas where a warm or safe environment may be needed. We visit homes of the shut-ins who cannot travel out to church or elsewhere, to families who may have lost a love one. To the hospital where support is needed in times of illness as well as time of joy as in births. The Visitation Ministry works in conjunction with the Flower and Card Ministries in trying to accomplish these focal points. A person serving in this ministry must be willing to give of themselves in time and situational circumstances.

Soup and Salad

Ministry Description:

Soup and Salad was started to promote fellowship among all members by providing lunch immediately after the second service for anyone who wishes to stay and eat. It is typically held the third Sunday of each month from late winter until early spring. Donations are taken in a box by the ramp and are used to fill various needs throughout the church. Some examples include helping fund the deacons, -who in turn care for the members of the church including our widows and widowers-, to bridging the financial gap to send a team on a mission trip to Honduras.

How YOU can help/Role of Volunteers (what you would be doing):

As a volunteer you would help set tables and chairs in the fellowship hall, prepare the meal, and clean up after lunch is over. The dinner is self serve and desserts are usually donated by various and different members.

Ignite Junior High Youth Group

Ministry Description:

Ignite is a Junior High Youth ministry for youth in 6th – 8th grade. Ignite is passionate about helping youth to develop their own personal relationship with Christ along with building healthy relationships with their peers. We know that junior high is a challenging time for the youth and full of difficult transitions. We hope that Ignite can be an encouragement to the youth and help to shine the light of Christ into their lives.

Ignite meets on Friday evenings from 7 – 9 PM. This time consists of playing games, having snack and engaging in a short lesson. Youth are encouraged to invite friends and come prepared to have some fun! Fridays are a great time for youth to get to know each other better and develop closer friendships. We know that life is a lot better when you have other Christian friends to support and help you along the way.

Ignite also meetings every Sunday morning for lessons during both services.

How YOU can help/Role of Volunteers (what you would be doing):

Ignite can use some more help on Friday evenings. This would involve supervising the youth and more importantly interacting with them through various games and activities.
Ignite could also use more coaches or assistant coaches for Sunday morning lessons. Coaches would be responsible to teach an hour lesson based on the current curriculum. Assistant coaches would just need to be present during the lesson and help the coach to teach where needed.

We are looking for volunteers that have a genuine love for the youth and have lots of patience!

Check out books and DVDs for children and adults using the Library
Assist in reading new books for appropriateness to be included in the church library if requested by Head Librarian

Must obtain Child Abuse clearance (Head Librarian will assist in this)

How YOU can help/Role of Volunteers (what you would be doing):

A volunteer for this Ministry should enjoy reading and interacting with people. Librarians serve on a rotating basis according to the schedule published by the Head Librarian (usually serve once every 5 or 6 weeks). Volunteers must be available to open the Library no later than 9:15 a.m. until the beginning of the 1st service as well as staff the Library from 10:30 until 10:50 (the conclusion of the 1st service until 10 minutes prior to the 2nd service).

Chefs Who Care

Ministry Description:

Chefs Who Care is a ministry under Fellowship that exists to provide meals to an individual or family in need because of illness, surgery, childbirth, bereavement, or other similar life event. Generally we offer meals for a two week time period; three times a week for a total of six meals.
Participation is simple, easy, and can be very rewarding. We have a number of “chefs” who are on a contact list. When a need arises the leader of the ministry contacts all the chefs, describes the need and who it is for, along with any dietary or other restrictions, and the chefs then sign up for the provided time slots. All of this is done through the web based program Meal Train which is very intuitive and easy to use.
This is a wonderful ministry for keeping in touch with members and their families who are going through either a hardship or a time consuming life change such as a new baby. It lets our church family know how much they are loved and appreciated.

How YOU can help/Role of Volunteers (what you would be doing):

If you were to volunteer to make meals you would be placed on the list of Chefs. When a need arises, you will be sent a link to the Meal Train site and will be able to sign up to make as many or few meals as you would like. You will be able to pick your day for delivery and can even enter what you are making so we can avoid doubling a recipe.
You would then contact the person in need the day of to confirm that you are on the way before dropping off the meal. It is recommended that you use disposable containers to make cleanup easier and to avoid losing your dishes.
